How It Works:

The filtration tower uses several different materials to demonstrate physical water filtration.

Water is poured into the top of the assembled tower and passes through the filtration layers. Gravel helps catch larger particles, sand filters finer particles, activated charcoal provides an additional filtering layer, and filter paper helps trap remaining visible debris before the water reaches the collection container below.

Children can observe the water before and after filtration and experiment with the order or combination of filtering materials to see how different setups affect the result.
