Every box comes with 4 experiments. They are box guitar, pan pipes, metal balls, making wavelengths. We hear sound because it moves across distances in waves. Sound waves can travel through gases, liquids and solids. The speed of sound waves depends on the temperature and the type of material that it is traveling through. The speed of sound in dry air at zero degrees Celsius is 331 metres every second. If the air temperature is higher, the speed of sound will be faster; and if the temperature is lower, the speed will be slower. Some sounds are more pleasant than others and this usually depends on the sound wave. If the sound wave repeats itself regularly, we usually hear it as a pleasant sound ( like musical notes ). However, if the sound wave is irregular and unrepeated, we usually hear it as noise. In this box kit, you will find 4 fabulous experiments that make use of sound waves. The experiments are; 1) Box guitar (sound with different thickness and length) 2) Pan pipes (different musical sounds) 3) Metal bells (sound traveling on air and solid) 4) Making wavelengths (visualize sound waves)
